Community Awareness

The best way to beat melanoma is through early detection, and Jack’s Fund has dedicated much of its efforts to reaching those most susceptible to skin cancer – children, teens, and adults who are exposed to too much sun without proper protection.

Partnering with schools, park districts, and businesses Jack’s Fund has shared information on the dangers of tanning booths, use of sunscreen, and the best ways to protect yourself from too much sun. Annual events like the “This Run’s For Jack” 5K and the Chicago Marathon, in which “Jack’s Team” competes every year, also raise awareness for the prevention of melanoma.
